THE CLASSIC WATCH IS SLIMMER THAN A SWISS DESIGN, USES QUARTZ TECHNOLOGY, HAS A SECOND HAND, AND INCLUDES A COMPLIMENTARY LEATHER TRAVEL CASE AND AN EXTRA CASUAL STRAP.

A PROJECT MANAGER and engineer by trade, Chris Pilton loves watches. “I have collected several rather nice ones over the years,” he says. “But in my collection I didn’t have the ‘perfect’ watch for every occasion. I’m big on solving problems, so I set about making myself the perfect watch.”_ The company’s website officially went live in January of this year, following a Facebook teaser campaign leading up to the launch.

The first design available for purchase is the Classic, in gold or silver. This narrow focus is a promising indicator that Chris is set to favour quality over quantity in business. So how does DeMontbrayPilton compare to the other giants in the watch world? The Classic watch is slimmer than a Swiss design, uses quartz technology and even includes a second hand.

Each watch purchased includes a complimentary leather travel case and an extra casual strap. There has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the ability to alternate straps, with the Classic’s attractive unisex design appealing to a wide variety of customers.

Though the Classic watch costs only $250, Chris personally ensures the quality of each timepiece. “The components of the watch are shipped to me in Brisbane,” says Chris. “I pop my white cotton gloves on, make sure everything is perfect, set the time to wherever the watch is heading, write a personalised note to our customers and send off by express post.”

This attentive and personalised approach to customer service has seen DeMontbrayPilton receive positive international attention and gain nearly 20,000 Instagram followers within a week of the account’s creation.
